Backend Engineer
Remote / Madrid or US East Coast
About the role
As a senior member of the engineering team, you will be building the foundation of our music data platform. You will be designing and scaling services that handle large amounts of data, making it useful and searchable for the product teams internally, as well as for the rights holders externally.
You'll report directly to the CTO and work closely with engineering, product, and operations teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and build large-scale distributed systems that can process massive amounts of external data and integrate it into products to meet client requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to align technical strategies with business goals.
- Design, configure and maintain our infrastructure in AWS (S3, EC2, ECS, RDS, OpenSearch, Lambda, Glue, Athena…).
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of backend software development experience, with a focus on building and managing large-scale, production-grade data systems.
- Expertise in writing clean, testable, and well-documented production code with Python.
- Solid understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and data modeling.
- Expertise in creating and maintaining scalable infrastructures on AWS, especially using ECS, Glue, Athena and RDS.
- Familiarity with large-scale data processing tools and platforms like Hadoop, Spark, Airflow or their equivalents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing and building efficiently with AI.
- Experience building or working with rights metadata systems in media, especially in music publishing or copyright domains.
- Familiarity with music metadata standards (CWR, DDEX ERN, DSR, MWN…).
- A love of music and interest in helping creators get paid fairly!
